Beautiful.ai vs Decktopus for Students and Teachers

Verdict: Beautiful.ai is the better choice for a student with a school email who needs a free year and needs PowerPoint import and export. Decktopus is the better choice for a student who wants to rehearse the talk with an AI audience and who is willing to pay, at half price with the student code. On the Board’s method, Decktopus scores 60 and Beautiful.ai scores 55. The gap comes from data terms and presenting features, not from the price.

Both tools promise a finished presentation from a prompt, and both make an offer aimed at students. A student who compares them on a pricing page sees two different kinds of offer: a free year on one side and a discount on the other. This article puts both offers side by side, scores them on the Board’s five dimensions, and explains which student should pick which. In this article a presentation maker is a tool whose output a student can edit and hand in, not a one-off slide generator.

On editable output, both tools earn 15 because the PowerPoint or PDF export sits on a paid tier. On price visibility, both show an individual price on their own site. The difference is that Decktopus states one classroom data term that Beautiful.ai’s captured pages do not.

Where Beautiful.ai wins

Beautiful.ai’s pricing page says it offers a year free for students with valid .edu email addresses, and it links to a separate education plan. For a student who needs the tool through a full school year, that is the most direct free path in this pair.

Its Pro plan is $14.50 per month when billed annually. Pro and Team both include PowerPoint import and export, so a student who must hand in a .pptx file can work inside the tool and export at the end. The Team plan costs $40 a seat each month on annual billing for two to twenty seats, which matters if the study group wants shared access.

Beautiful.ai also states that Pro includes secure sharing links, viewer analytics, offline playback and PDF export. For a student who presents to a class and then shares the deck, those are the features that matter after the talk. That is why Beautiful.ai scores 5 on the presenting dimension.

Where Decktopus wins

Decktopus’s FAQ states that students get 50% off all plans with a code published on the same page. That is a discount on the list price rather than a free year, so the student keeps paying each month or year. On the Pro plan, the page lists $9.99 per month billed annually, or $119.88 per year, and $24.99 per month if billed monthly.

Decktopus’s Pro plan includes 750 AI credits per month and exports to PDF, PPT and PNG. It also includes version history and one-click sharing, which is the presenting point it earns. The most distinctive feature is Loop, which the page describes as four sequential AI agents that simulate audience questions and give feedback on pacing and clarity. A student who has to defend a project in front of a panel may find that practice useful.

On data terms, Decktopus’s FAQ says that user data is excluded from AI training by default. That is one statement, so it earns 5 points, not the full 15. The Board does not count a generic privacy promise as a classroom term.

Limits of the scoring

The Board did not score output quality. A deck from either tool depends on the prompt and on the student who edits it. Both tools produce drafts that need checking against the source material, and a student should check every number before handing in the deck.

The scores also do not compare the two free paths directly, because they are different kinds of offer. Beautiful.ai’s free year needs a valid .edu address. Decktopus’s discount depends on a code published on its FAQ page. A student without a school address cannot use the Beautiful.ai offer at all.

Who should choose which

Choose Beautiful.ai if you have a valid .edu address, if you need the tool for the full year without paying, and if the final submission must be a PowerPoint file exported from the same tool.

Choose Decktopus if you do not have a school address, if you want rehearsal tools before a presentation, and if you are willing to pay at the student rate. A student who is building a talk for a job interview or a club may find the rehearsal feature worth the cost.

Neither choice replaces the school’s own license. If the school already has Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, compare these two with the native options on the main ranking before paying.

Evidence and method

Sources, read 17 October 2026: Beautiful.ai pricing and Decktopus pricing. Decktopus’s page carries a publication date of 13 October 2026, and the student year sits in the Beautiful.ai FAQ. Both pages change without notice, so when a page shows two figures for the same plan, the Board reports the one a buyer sees first. The methodology page holds the rules, and the 2026 results page lists both tools beside the other eight entries.
